Helping mine operators control critical risk and meet compliance — worldwide

Mineplex helps mining companies build risk and safety systems that actually do the job - written by someone who has run mines in the toughest legal jurisdiction worldwide.

What we do

About Scott Graham

Risk & Safety Management

PHMP reviews, SHMS and contractor management audits, critical control management, risk reviews and practical assurance that tests whether your systems actually work.

We help mining companies understand whether their risk and safety systems are not only compliant, but implemented and effective where the work happens. That means challenging the logic from hazards and material unwanted events through to controls, performance requirements, verification and assurance.

Our approach is grounded in operational and statutory experience. We work with Mine Operators, SSEs, risk owners, supervisors and workers to identify the gaps between what the system says should happen and what is actually happening in the field, then focus effort on what matters most.

For critical control management, this includes supporting the integration of critical controls into PHMPs in line with QGN35, developing and reviewing CCM frameworks, field verification and helping organisations build meaningful governance and assurance around their critical controls.

Mine & Statutory Management

Relief SSE services, SSE mentoring and exam preparation, ownership transitions, brownfield projects, greenfield establishment and contract management.

Mine management is different when you have actually held the statutory accountability. Mineplex brings 20 years of SSE experience to assignments where sound judgement, practical leadership and an understanding of Queensland mining legislation matter.

We provide relief SSE coverage when you need experienced statutory leadership, mentoring for existing and developing SSEs, and practical preparation for people working towards their SSE qualification. The focus is not simply on knowing the legislation, but understanding why it exists and how to apply it when making decisions at an operating mine.

We also support Mine Operators through ownership transitions, projects and site establishment where management systems, statutory arrangements and operational requirements need to come together in practice.

Training

Practical legislation workshops for supervisors, superintendents and senior positions, including an intense one-day Senior Positions Workshop and Mock Trial conducted in partnership with McCullough Robertson Lawyers.

Our workshops are built around the decisions people actually have to make in their roles. Rather than teaching legislation in isolation, we provide the context behind Queensland mining safety and health legislation and connect it to the site's SHMS, management structure, risk management and day-to-day responsibilities.

For supervisors and superintendents, the focus is on understanding their obligations and what reasonable precautions and proper diligence look like in practice. For senior positions and risk owners, we go deeper into management structure, material unwanted events, critical control management, supervisory effectiveness and incident analysis.

Our one-day Senior Positions Workshop and Mock Trial, delivered with McCullough Robertson Lawyers, takes that learning further by examining the legal consequences of decisions and putting participants into a mock trial where they have to account for those decisions.

Why Mineplex

Practical, not theoretical.

Experience from inside the operation

Mineplex brings more than 33 years of mining experience across open-cut and underground coal, metals and exploration, including 20 years as a Site Senior Executive in Queensland. That experience shapes how we approach risk, assurance, statutory management and training.

We challenge what the system says

A procedure, PHMP or SHMS can look good on paper and still not work in practice. We test the logic, talk to the people doing the work and look for evidence that controls are understood, implemented and effective where the risk actually exists.

We focus on what matters

The objective is not more paperwork. It is understanding the risks that matter, whether the controls relied upon are working, and whether the people accountable for them have the information they need to act.

Practical outcomes

Our work is designed to leave clients with something they can use: clearer priorities, stronger controls, better assurance and practical actions that can be implemented in an operating mine.
